Phenotypic Plasticity of Cunninghamialanceolata (Lamb.) Hook. Seedlings in Response to Varied Light Quality Treatments

چکیده

Effects of light quality on phenotypic plasticity in Cunninghamialanceolata (Lamb.) Hook. seedlings during growth and development, the underlying mechanisms, were investigated. The showed distinct morphological adjustments when exposed to an equal photosynthetic photon flux density (400 μmol·m−2·s−1) different qualities: monochromatic blue (BL), red (RL), far-red (FrL), mixed RL FrL at 1:1 (RFr1:1L), 1:2 (RFr1:2L), multi-wavelength white (WL, control). Compared with WL, BL significantly promoted height increment. However, was unfavorable for root growth. seedling biomass lower root-to-shoot ratio smaller under BL. leaf area enlargement, growth, axillary bud number, increased ratio, but inhibited stem elongation. Low R/Fr ratios or proportion RFr1:1L treatment poorer than that other treatments; however, number buds highest. morphology traits treatments, crucial adaptation C. lanceolata quality. The phenotypic plasticity of the aquatic invertebrate Caenis latipennis in response to environmental conditions in the Kheirood Kenar River, Iran

Phenotypic plasticity is the capability of an organism to change its shape in response to the environmental condition. The present study aimed to investigate the phenotypic plasticity of the aquatic invertebrate Caenis latipennis using outline analysis. Samples were collected from up- and downstream of the Kheirood Kenar River, identified to the species level and photographed using a digital ca...

Functional traits and plasticity in response to light in seedlings of four Iberian forest tree species.

We investigated the differential roles of physiological and morphological features on seedling survivorship along an experimental irradiance gradient in four dominant species of cool temperate-Mediterranean forests (Quercus robur L., Quercus pyrenaica Willd., Pinus sylvestris L. and Pinus pinaster Ait.). The lowest photochemical efficiency (F(v)/F(m) in dark-adapted leaves) was reached in deep ...

The evolution of phenotypic plasticity in response to anthropogenic disturbance

Questions: Do evolutionary changes in phenotypic plasticity occur after anthropogenic disturbance? Do these changes tend to be increases or decreases in plasticity? How do these evolutionary patterns differ among taxa and trait types? Does evolution of plasticity change with time since the disturbance? Data incorporated: Evolutionary rates for plasticity estimated from 20 studies that have comp...

Light-controlled Stem Elongation in Pea Seedlings Grown under Varied Light Conditions.

There appears to be an orderly transition from one photosensitive state to another in light-controlled stem elongation in the garden pea, Pisum sativum L. cv. Alaska. Stem elongation in dark-grown plants is known to be phytochrome-controlled. However, seedlings are insensitive to phytochrome after a red light pretreatment. An action spectrum for inhibition in these seedlings has peaks at 440 an...
